3 Months Old

Emmerson is 3 months old! We decided to take a photo each month of her with the green monster and the batik giraffe so people can see how she's grown. She has discovered her hands and enjoys trying to jam her entire fist into her mouth. She really enjoys being part of any and all activity, so we think that she is going to be a little social butterfly!

April and May Photos

Here is the last batch of photos for a while. There are some from my mom's visit, some from the beginning of Ian's mom's visit, and many of Emmerson looking cute. If anyone knows how to prevent baby red-eye, please let me know. It is plaguing me!

Hope you enjoy these April and May Shutterfly Photos ! Alicia

Yogyakarta Photos

I've been able to figure out a way to at least get my photos up on Shutterfly, and in the interest of time I am going to upload them in sections. This first batch is from our wonderful trip to the central Javan city of Yogyakarta. Mom, Ian, Emmerson and I had a great time visiting the Hindu temple complex Prambanan; Ramayana Ballet; royal palace; batik factory and the Buddhist temple Borobudur.

Here are the Shutterfly Photos. Next I'll put up photos from Kuta, Bali.

Computer Issues

Hi Everybody. I haven't been able to upload any new pictures for a while because, when we returned from spring break, we discovered that our computer had died (hopefully temporarily). It's in the hands of a nameless computer shop here in Jakarta, and I've been assured by the school's tech. assistant that it is salvageable. I may lose everything that was on the computer, but at least the computer itself can be saved. Hopefully. I love the convenience of a personal computer, but WOW what a pain when something goes wrong.

In the spirit of failing computers, here are a few clever "haiku error messages" (author unknown):

Your file was so big.
It might be very useful.
But now it is gone.

The Web site you seek
Cannot be located, but
Countless more exist.

Program aborting:
Close all that you have worked on.
You ask far too much.

Windows NT crashed.
I am the Blue Screen of Death.
No one hears your screams.

Yesterday it worked.
Today it is not working.
Windows is like that.

First snow, then silence.
This thousand dollar screen dies
So beautifully.

With searching comes loss
And the presence of absence:
"My Novel" not found.

Stay the patient course.
Of little worth is your ire.
The network is down.

A crash reduces
Your expensive computer
To a simple stone.

Three things are certain:
Death, taxes and lost data.
Guess which has occurred.

You step in the stream,
But the water has moved on.
This page is not here.

Having been erased,
The document you're seeking
Must now be retyped.

Serious error.
All shortcuts have disappeared.
Screen. Mind. Both are blank.

I'll hopefully be back with some photos soon! Hope everyone is well. Alicia
