Happy Chinese New Year! Our local mall goes all out in its embrace and celebration of holidays, and Chinese New Year has been no exception. Alison and I took this opportunity to have Emmerson and Gracie's pictures taken in full Chinese regalia!

Gracie's 1st Birthday and Wayang Kulit

Our good friend Gracie Wilson turned 1 in January! These are some photos of her birthday dinner. As you can see, both girls thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate cake for dessert.

I also was able to attend another all-night wayang kulit puppet show performed by the same puppeteer who performed my 7-month pregnancy wayang kulit last year. Before the show, we took a photo of Emmerson with the puppet we were given at the end of last year's performance. It was fun to remember that one year ago, Emmerson was still a "coming attraction"!

Quilts!

Emmerson is lucky to have two wonderful "honorary aunts" who have each recently made her a gorgeous quilt. Shelly's quilt is a beautiful mix of turquoise, tangerines, greens and yellows. Katie's quilt is a "rag" quilt of yellows, blues, greens, pinks and oranges. Both quilts were made with enough love and care to warm Emmerson on even the coldest midwestern night! Thanks, girls.

Christmas Trip 2005

Happy New Year!

We had a wonderful trip back to the U.S. for Christmas and New Year's. We spent a few weeks in Illinois with my parents and then headed to Colorado to spend time with Ian's sister's family and his mom. We spent some unforgettable time with our loved ones, which left us re-charged and ready to return to Indonesia for the next half of our school year. My parents and some family friends are even coming to Thailand in March to spend a week exploring Bangkok and Chiang Mai!
